Ford Australia has introduced the country’s first plug-in hybrid van, the Transit Custom PHEV, alongside its fully electric counterpart, the E-Transit Custom. Both models are now available for order, with deliveries expected in the third quarter of 2025.
The Transit Custom PHEV is priced from $67,590 plus on-road costs, while the E-Transit Custom starts at $77,590 plus on-road costs.
The Transit Custom PHEV combines a 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with an electric motor, delivering a total system output of 171kW. It features an 11.8kWh battery that supports up to 54 kilometers of electric-only driving. Charging the battery to full capacity takes approximately four hours using a 3.5kW charger.
The E-Transit Custom, on the other hand, is equipped with a 160kW/415Nm rear-mounted electric motor powered by a 64kWh battery, offering a driving range of up to 307 kilometers. It supports DC fast charging up to 125kW, enabling a 15 to 80 percent charge in about 32 minutes, and AC charging up to 11kW for a full charge in just under seven hours.
Both models offer a towing capacity of 2300kg for braked trailers. The gross vehicle mass (GVM) ranges from 3225kg for the PHEV and E-Transit Sport variants to 3350kg for the E-Transit Trend. The gross combined mass (GCM) varies between 5225kg and 5350kg, with maximum payload capacities ranging from 1060kg to 1111kg, depending on the specific variant.
