Google Flights Reveals Optimal Times for the Best Flight Deals

by Team Confer · May 3, 2025

Google Flights has introduced a new feature that provides travellers with insights into the optimal times to book flights for the lowest fares. By analysing extensive historical airfare data, Google now offers guidance on when prices have typically been at their lowest for specific routes and dates. This enhancement aims to assist users in making more informed booking decisions and potentially securing better deals.

For domestic flights within the United States, Google suggests that the lowest prices are generally found between 21 and 60 days before departure. For international travel, especially to Europe, booking at least 72 days in advance is recommended to secure the best fares. Additionally, flights departing on Mondays, Tuesdays, or Wednesdays tend to be 12% to 20% cheaper than those on weekends.

How to use this? For Australian and overseas flights, go to google.com/travel/flights/, enter your trip details, and search for flights. Then, click the date to open a calendar showing flight prices for each day in the months ahead and find the deal that best suits.
